Tarvos Talent is seeking an experienced Controller for a contract opportunity in Austin, with consideration for San Antonio as well. This hybrid role follows a 3-days-in-office, 2-days-remote schedule and offers the opportunity to strengthen accounting operations, improve financial processes, and help shape the next stage of a well-established organization.

Core Responsibilities:

• Lead the month-end close and oversee core general ledger activities to support accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Improve accounting workflows, procedures, and internal processes while identifying ways to get greater value from the financial system.
• Partner with non-finance stakeholders across the organization, providing guidance and helping teams navigate accounting-related needs effectively.
• Apply project accounting expertise to support financial operations within a professional services environment.

What You’ll Bring:

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong general ledger and month-end close expertise; AEC and project accounting experience is required.
• Hands-on experience with Deltek Vantagepoint and a demonstrated ability to improve and optimize financial systems and processes.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the confidence to influence stakeholders who have varying levels of accounting knowledge.
• A forward-thinking, team-oriented approach with experience developing procedures and a desire to build sustainable improvements; CPA or public accounting experience is a plus.
