Tarvos Talent is partnering with a fast-growing CPG company in Austin, TX to identify a Controller. This hybrid opportunity is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who wants to build, improve, and own the accounting function inside a high-growth, well-funded organization with strong retail momentum.
This is not a maintenance-mode Controller role. The Controller will partner directly with finance leadership to strengthen the accounting infrastructure, create scalable close processes, improve controls, and ensure the business is prepared for continued growth. This role offers meaningful visibility across leadership, investors, auditors, and cross-functional teams while leading the day-to-day accounting engine of the business.
Responsibilities:
- Own the month-end close, financial reporting, accounting operations, and audit readiness
- Build scalable accounting processes, internal controls, policies, SOPs, reconciliations, and reporting cadences
- Oversee trade promotion accruals, deduction management, revenue recognition, inventory accounting, and multi-entity reporting
- Partner cross-functionally with finance, supply chain, sales operations, trade marketing, ecommerce, and leadership
- Lead internal and external accounting resources while identifying opportunities to improve systems, automation, and reporting efficiency
Requirements:
- CPA required with 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 3+ years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role
- CPG experience required, ideally with retail distribution, trade spend, revenue recognition, and inventory accounting
- Strong GAAP reporting, close process, internal controls, multi-entity, and multi-currency experience
- Builder mindset with high ownership, strong cross-functional communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced growth environment
